A video of two ex South African Airforce (SAAF) Albatross's flying in formation during the 2008 annual Durban Virginia Airshow, the Albatross was used by the SAAF for naval and maritime patrols and were retired from service in the very early 1990's, the two seen here are privately owned and still in the original SAAF colours.

Northrop had a bunch of these, in the 60s and 70s. They would fly them right over my house, going from Hawthorne to Palmdale. They made night runs too.

You could hear them coming for what seemed like five minutes. The steady drone combined with the climbing and descending harmonics of just slightly out of sync props was quite soothing. Quite often, it would put me to sleep.

If that didn't happen, you could just lay there and listen to the sound getting quieter and quieter, for what seemed like a good ten minutes.

Another reason to hate the world of today.
