Sure is a hard one. The wing flex is incredible, only time you see wings bend that much is during testing at Boeing's factory in WA. Just goes to show that the aircraft can usually take up for what the pilot(s) mess up. Also, I would think that the crew would decide to go around but then again, I know how they approach in war-torn areas such as that to avout any IED's or RPG's.

I have one...
I have one... says..
No test here...this is one of the crew's that landed short over in Afghanistan. They flew their pattern too tight, this caused them to overshoot, subsequently in their effort to recover the approach they let the sink rate become too great and they made a hard landing. The forces experienced during this landing were great enough to damage the a/c to the point that this was considered a class A mishap.

The other incident occurred during a night assault landing. That crew landed approx. 2000 feet short of the runway.
