I still can't understand why Dassault stopped the Mirage 2000 production...Sad, but that's how it is.
In fact it's just stopped belong Dassault Aviation and if any country would be interested by new aircraft Mirage 2000 it could be reengaged in production but the problem is there is no country anymore and concurrency is harder on this market. No one on demand. For sure Brazil and many countries in america latina are interested and that's not the first time but only for used aircrafts because new aircrafts are to much expensive for those governments.
It's just what happened with our Brazilian friends. But I can not understand why an entire squadron is disbanded.
Dassault decided to refocus on the Rafale; all colleagues have been reassigned to others squadrons (notably the EC 2/5 squadron) : All is Ok, but not at the expense of squadrons, traditions, common sense... The Mirage 2000 isn't yet outdated against rivals. Is it not sufficient to see its results during last years international exercises (Red, Green Flag, TPL, ... for the most knows) or OPEX missions ? The potential needs of the Mirage 2000 would be more than 200 units : about 60 for French Air Force, 126 for India (indian pilots love the Mirage, and much more cheaper than the Rafale), and several tens for others countries (Brazil, Greece, ...). This is not nothing.
This stupid commercial strategy leaves the door open to others (i think on the F-16...). And Americans are right! French are able to design the best state-of-the-art technologies and have the best business schools in the world, but they are incapable to be competitive in the real word. This is the sad French paradox.
mmm not the best music for this video
"Help Me Understand" ... What would be your choice ? Argentin tango, Samba, heaviest of heavy metal, Hip Hop, Trip hop ... may be reagge ? Don't speak about things you have not understood.
