The first with the fly-by-wire flight control systems was the Avro Vulcan in the 1950s.
Nope-it was the german "Mistel" in WW2......actually the mistel was 'wire guided'...not FBW....FBW means that the flight controls i.e ailerons etc are controlled by computer and small actuators, whereas conventional controls are hydraulically powered or moved via cables
Nice to se some european air power ;)
Superb video, great shots, great music that doesn't overpower the visual action - so nice to hear that Mirage200 R-O-A-R!!!!
Nice aircraft, nice pilotes...
The last Mirage is very nice, but ... I hate the politics of dassault... exactly as EADS... they take money for nothing and the military department is now very poor... (4 rafales in afganistan, their main mission is to give fuel to other aircrafts). The rafale is now very old : 20 years to built it ! For what ? To don't use it in combat !
I suppose you are brainwashed young USA-ladd? So you think weapons are made only because of their usage against poor b******s!! You can have weapons to protect yourself and take care that nobody threats you......oh dear
Don't argue, it's a mirage's lover principal argument... ^^

The Mistel 5 had a FBW ? I have no doubt about you, Artur.
Well, this is now the first in the 40s.

As far as i know, m2000 might be the best dog fighter nowdays, thanks to the electrical control (flight by wire) witch were introduce for the very first time by dassault on the M2000. .
The F 16 was the first to have the fly by wire and many other aircraft have it eg eurofighter typhoon, rafale, so it would not be the best dogfighter-the typhoon and the rafale have canard wings at the front making them more manouverable than the mirage 2000

Technology makes the difference without a doubt. (once again both in brv and dogfight).
Purpose for ingenieer today is to improve life esperance of fighter in actions.
If my memory is good m2000 had the best life esperance time in a dog fight.
About our doubts concerning prices, if your are curious, read this study carried out by the serious daily defense-aerospace.com attentively (only 13 pages) : http://www.defense-aerospace.com/dae/articles/communiques/FighterCostFinalJuly06.pdf
I quoted those astonishing figures from this report. This report is intended to provide an objective basis for estimating the true costs of western combat aircraft for their domestic buyers. Actually, I think this is the best public reference. in other words,
1 Rafale cost 62.1M$ for French Air Force.
1 F-22 cost 177.6M$ for USAF...
Now In fact, the development program for 1 Rafale M cost 145.7M$, the most expensive after the F-22.
One last word, the F-16 is equipped with a fly-by-wire flight control system.
