deer recovery was a big money earner back in the eighty and early part of the 90s, deer were caught live to stock farms for breeding stock, price could fetch as much $3000 per hind, at one stage you could catch as much as 20 hind in one trip it was big money ,but you had to get in close to capture them, hence you had to have the skill to fly only inches from the ground and with the blades cutting into trees and nearly touching the ground- deer are pest in new zealand, numbers are so massive that they kill of native bush and kill feeding ground for native birds and animals-deer were introduce to new zealand couple century ago and cause massive destruction of the bush-hughes 500s-c-d were the main helicopters used at the time. by the way the large sign on the side was so the department of conservation could id who was flying in the area
