It is Convair XFY-1 Pogo at the first half of the movie, then Ryan X-13 Vertijet. Both ordered in the 1950´s by US Navy as experimental aircraft for testing the possibility of vertical take-off and vertical landing from the ship. The project was not successful because of instability in transition from horizontal to vertical flight and unstable aircraft when landing. That was very important problem on landing deck, which usually range about. The planes could not land on it.
