Sound of Mach 0.9, Eurofighter
A low level flyby at the end of practice session just before start of the Rissala 2007 Airshow, Finland, 11.8.2007. (http://www.typhoondisplay.com/) I had to upload this snapshot because of the interesting sound of the flyby. Perhaps the missile pylons causing vibration or something..?
Weather was dry (later humid and rainy), cloud base was at BKN4000ft QFE.

could you upload Mig-29 toooooooo?
I now have all my Rissala 2007 clips at my own site http://mats.1g.fi/mp4/Rissala07/ in mpeg4 format.
Enjoy! :)
I have most of the numbers on tape, I'll probably later upload at least the combat display by the FAF Hornets.
I studied RAF-demonstration groups program and there was maximum speed at the end of program 600mph= 0.79M, but bad weather and I trust my eyes it was less than that.
This flyby is after the display program (typhoondisplay.com), not part of it. The 600mph pass is just before the plane goes up vertical into the skies, doing continuous rolls, this one in the clip is after that and is not part of the program. Weather was not bad at noon, when this was recorded. The 600mph flyby before the pull-up wasn't this fast, you can see the two-seater doing the 600mph pass at the start of the other clip with afterburners. I trust my eyes and ears too, this one looks and sounds a lot faster than with the two-seater later in the day.. plus the visible low-pressure zone in not-yet-humid conditions.
I still won't change the name of the clip, I believe this is approximately M0.9. You can believe it to be a little less if you want :)
I practise boomerangs they have strange sound too when I boost them into air...wooooosh
This EF-2000 just doesnt look so fast...we should ask the pilot
mäks..I was there too . How do you know its 0.9 mach? it didnt seem so fast.
Oh, and there seems to be a transonic low pressure zone underneath the plane for a second. That might be why the pilot instantly raises the nose a little bit, to keep the speed well below M1. So in my opinion this flyby is within the transonic range; more than M0.8 and less than M1.0.
That flyby seems a lot slower, and the same hight-pitch sound is there, too.
Not as cool as a Tornado or JAS-35 doing the same thing :P But, cool on the ears, with the other two it's like whooosh-ROARRRRRRRR, followed by 'crap my ears hurt'
Well, I'd say the sound is generally almost the same with every transonic flyby. The only
curious thing about the EF was the high-pitch sound I haven't heard in other types. ..And as far as sounds go, the less noise, the better the war plane :)

I recall the announcer talking about 600knots being the target speed in that pass. That would be M0.9 at sea level.
Funny thing about the display EF being switched.. They took the two-seater from the static area and brought this one-seater onto its place. So the used different planes for rehearsal and display. I guess a troublesome red light must have popped up in the single seater.. :) I have the main display also on tape, have to upload it someday.
