Rafale 1.8mach (and more in fact because it has past mach 2 during flight tests),
I am not aware of this... If it was done, it would have been in a "clean" configuration during a steep dive... which has not a great operationnal value :p

Yeah but i don't think speed is important for plane capability, the most important are high manoeuvrability, high load capacity, a good radar and good weapons and let's go for an attack!! To came back to those planes SEM is used such of bomber, short fuel tanker, and training missions for young pilots after T45 Goshawk.That plane is solidly built. Jaguar did the same kind of missions bombing with good air to air capability but for the french air force. Today they need strong potential on each kind of missions instead of specialized aircrafts, omnirole fighters were born.And last thing speed SEM is 1.3mach (11000m ; 0.97 is at low height),Jaguar 1.6mach, Rafale 1.8mach (and more in fact because it has past mach 2 during flight tests),

Yes Fetan but F8 crusader's never have been replaced in his own role, because of the Rafale project that is an omnirole planes called to replace all planes on board of the french carrier.There is an high efficiency for the plane capabilities, maintenance and finally for the investment then a french lobby lead by Dassault had been engaged to conclude on the Rafale project and today no one regret apart the delay of delivery. That means time is on a countdown for the SEM but however we get time!
The main reason the program was dropped was because the plane could not perform a trap with only one engine. And in effect even Air Force versions of the Jaguar (M and E) were noticeably underpowered. The RAF even re-engined their own Jaguar with more powerfull versions of the Adour over the time, the Armée de l'air did not.

Well in fact that was a prototype with tests for the french navy on the carrier Clemenceau. This plane was an answer for the replacement of the Etendard IV. During the test campain it had been found that the Jaguar M wasn't enough secure on landing with only one reactor and the cost was again heavy, so french government decided to stop it and modernized the Etendard IV with the Super Etendard then Super Etendard Modernisé (SEM). After it has been suggested studies for stovl planes, and after F18 Hornet , and at the end the right choice, the Rafale M, many years after the decision to exchange french navy planes. That video is wonderful it's a rare film.
