Actully , the best air to air missile for short range is the israeli python 5.
The aim9x is not operational.
Usa bought just 20 python 5, becasue they want to know why its such a good missile, and learn how to make the aim9x good as the python.

about russian missile- a joke compare to israeli and american missiles.

Comme on, don't be naive. AIM-9X is like R-73. But R-73 is in service since 90'. Right now russians have R-74, better than 9x and R-73. Russians are the best in dogfight.

Man, it's about time Sidewinder got the edge over the R-73. And I must say, it took us a while. Now we just need a missile with mobility like that and better range than AMRAAM to stay competitive with the MBDA Meteor Europe's working on.
