A Supermarine Spitfire Mk. XVI, which was produced in April 1945,is up for auction in New Zealand later this month and is expected to attract alot of interest.

A Chinese buyer has swooped on this spitfire, shelling out nearly $3 million NZD at an auction in Nelson, South Island, New Zealand.
The Chinese group had set its sights on the 1945 Supermarine Spitfire Mk XVI, paying an auction-record $2.8 million NZD on the 14th September 08. Apparently he also purchased a large number of cars as well.
