Good clip.
Iran has done an impressive job maintaining and upgrading it's aircraft under difficult circumstances.

Lupus,

if you had any idea what it takes to mount a twin stabiliser on a supersonic aircraft so it can withstand the pressure, I think you wouldn't be making silly comments.

Which "own aerospace industry" you're talking about ? Twin stabilizer fitted F-5s? Which is said to be modified with RD-33 Russian engines, that is 1.5 times bigger in diameter of regular F-5s hull.Iranian propaganda sound and seemed like a big funny joke, nothing more.

Yep, old jets but I think Iran is playing it smart. Why fall into the trap of a billion dollar arms race with the USAF that in comparison to Iran has an almost infinite budget? Iran has realised that indigenous production is the only way to go due to arms embargoes, and that their deterrence capability in ballistic missiles are far more important than buying "top of the line" Su-30s. Still, these old jets have proven to be more than enough reason for all the Gulf Arab states to go on spending sprees with imported jets, while Iran is establishing its own aeorospace industry.

Still, it is kind of neat to see the old iron in flight.

Looks like a jet version of the Commemorative Air Force. Few, if any, fighters less than 30 years old.

mojo it is unlikely the russian has anything to do with the f14 hawk trial, that was done 20 years ago, and the russian at that time were flying against the f14 with the iraqi ( mig 21 23 27 25) its is highly unlikely the iranian let anybody close to the f14 especially russian. amd even more to play with the AWG9, the russian were selling weapons and fuel to the iranian, but the iranian are not that stupid the f14 was dominating anything they could throw at them, until the mirage f1EQ6 and S530D missiles, and only at 2 against one.

The russian are helping iran now yes , but integration is an old story, and why would they do that are they are trying to sell su 30k to iran that are way superior to the f14 a

All these aircrafts were sold before 1979 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_revolution ) .

F14 fitted with HAWK . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Republic_of_Iran_Air_Force
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIM-23_Hawk report says :
( The Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force is reported to have modified a number of MIM-23 HAWK missiles for carriage on F-14 Tomcat fighters in the air-to-air role. Iran has also modified its ground-based HAWK systems for carriage on a convoy of 8×8 wheeled vehicles and adapted the launchers to carry Standard RIM-66 or AGM-78 missiles with two Standard missiles per launcher. )
In my opinion , this modification as been made by Russians .
In the same way that they did with the X29T/AS14 .

At 2 minutes 25sec , a F4E is firing a russian made air to ground missile, the AS-14.
