This is my videoclip that I originally posted on www.flightlevel350.com
The pilot was not supposed to get that close to the ground. ATC cut his routine short after it happened. He was ordered to land (well he climbed to 5000ft & manoeuvred to burn off fuel first). The same pilot flew the same routine later that day without any problems.

You sir, are an idiot. The thunderbird incident happened under a completely different set of circumstances. The fact that the typhoon escaped unscathed here has absolutely no correlation to a maneuverability competition between itself and a Viper. Had the Typhoon been in the exact same loop as the Viper was in when the T-bird pilot punched out, the Typhoon would have ran face first into the ground in the same fashion.

I've seen aircraft get much closer and miss, I thing it was a German Tornado passing about 3-4 feet above tarmac. He seemed to be in full control the whole time. This almost looked like it was planned.

Also, take into account that the EF-2000 has a characteristic tail-slide similar to the Su-37.

I was there and saw this, definitely the closest I've ever seen an aircraft get to, but not actually crash! Awesome.

before you go slagging someone off -get the facts.this aircraft is still in development stages-this may not have been pilot error but the aircraft!!!!!!big cahooners staying with it.

Pure and simple a monumental screw up on behalf of the pilot, who just got lucky enough to not kill himself or anyone else.

If he was in my squadron he'd be grounded. I wouldn't be suprised if the Raf did ground him, simply no room for those sorts of stupid errors in fast jets.

Sorry for the 5-star rating though; was an accident. I would give it a 2.5-star rating.

Nothing special in this clip. The videographer seems to be a rookie; some inaccuracy to focus on the jet.
