The HH-47 in Action -CSAR Mission-
Video of the new HH-47 CSAR (Combat Search and Rescue) Helicopter of the United States Air Force (USAF).
In this video, fighter jets under attack from surface to air missiles (SAM). All but one jet is able to evade the attack. One suffers a direct hit, but the pilot and crwe are able to eject. Using multiple means of communication, the crew are able to coordinate a rescue attempt by an HH-47 rescue squadron. The choppers come under attack from the ground, and rapidly fire flares in response. Some of the crew, including a seriously injured crewman, are rescued from rugged ground using fast ropes and the hovering capability of the chopper. Other members of the squadron neutralize the enemy, opening fire. The rest of the crew are rescued following a landing. The aircraft refuel in the air after a rendezvous with the
C-130 tanker. The crew receives medical attention following a landing on a naval hospital ship.
