The Superb Rafale French Fighter

The Dassault Rafale is a French twin-engined delta-wing highly agile multi-role fighter aircraft designed and built by Dassault Aviation. Dassault uses 'Omni Role' as a marketing term in an effort to differentiate the aircraft from other 'multi-role' fighters that have primary and secondary roles. Dassault also uses the term to indicate the Rafale's ability to switch from one role to another during a single sortie, although the term is mostly meant to encapsulate the fact that the Rafale is replacing seven specialised planes.
The Rafale is being produced both for land-based use with the French Air Force and for carrier-based naval operations with the French Navy. It has also been marketed for export, and while there are no foreign sales yet, several countries have expressed interest.

Although the Rafale is cheaper and smaller than the EF-2000 Typhoon, no export orders have been achieved. But it would be interesting if the Typhoon and the Rafale were to dogfight each other, but the question is, who will win? Rafale or Typhoon? One thing is for certain, because one reason why the French left the Eurofighter Consortium was because the French were looking for a smaller and cheaper fighter for an eye to the export market. Plus, both the Rafale and the Typhoon are extremely agile and highly advanced fighters.

And can't you believe that the Rafales went into action!!!!!!!!! Man that's so cool, just this year!!!!!!!!! Especially supporting the NATO International Security Assistance Force!!!!!!! 3 French Air Force and 3 French Naval Rafales attacking Taliban targets. Now that's awesome!!!!!!!!!! Did you know that when the time Rafale Ms entered service during the Gulf War, they, unfortunately, never saw combat, but this year the French Air Force and the French Navy deploy Rafales and they go into action!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

Very cool video!!!!!! I love this fighter!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe that there are so many super cool and very nice videos of such superb fighters like the Rafale!!!!!!!!! The Rafale is yet another one of my favorite fighters!!!!!!! One of the variants in this video is the Rafale B. There is also a single-seater variant as well, which is the single-seater Rafale C. Another interesting variant is the single-seater Rafale M, which is the navalized variant of the Rafale. Another navalized variant is the two-seater Rafale N. Apparantly, because of the workload that is unacceptibly high, a vast majority of the Rafales delivered to the French are two-seaters. There is also a stealthy variant of the Rafale called the Rafale D(Discret). So the Rafale B's will be upgraded to Rafale D standard. In addition, the Rafale is currently supplementing the Mirage 2000 in the Air superiority role, but, like the F-35, the Rafale will be replacing several aircraft, including the Mirage F1, Super Etendard, and the SEPECAT Jaguar. Here is an interesting fact: The Typhoon was designed to shoot down large numbers of Su-27s, Mig-29s, and, believe it or not, Mirage 2000s and Rafales!!!!!!!! But the Rafale part is when the French get pernickety about export orders, something like that. Still, the Rafale is such a cool fighter!!!!!!!!!! I love to see the superfighters go into action!!!!!!!!!!

Since then, the Rafale have attacked Taliban units on numerous occasions, scoring direct hits with remarkable precision. Availability has been excellent too, with not a single mission being cancelled due to a maintenance issue.

Nice comments! Thanks!

Effectivly Rafales M fly over Afghanistan since a long time such of plane of surveillance for the territory, Mirage 2000 and SEM for bombing. With the engagement of the Rafale on standard F2 it acquired Air/Ground capability with an add on for guided laser bomb for the last french intervention, a SEM or Mirage 2000 have to illuminate targets. But if you make a comparison, SEM can bring a bomb , Mirage 2000 two and Rafale six it's better. And if you think they were not engaged in much combat, may be but if a doubt exist on a target, french forces get back because they don't like blunders, above all on villages attacks because civilians pay for this and that's not professional for an army! Rafale is an evolutive aircraft and on three standards french forces got F2 standard, the real plane potential isn't revealed yet.

Air support to ISAF and OEF: with 3 Mirage 2000D and 2 C160 based at Dushanbe Air Force Here's the low down on current French aircraft deployments: Base (Tajikistan), as well as 2 C135 refueling tankers based at Manas (Kyrgyzstan), France conducts daily fire support, refueling, reconnaissance and logistics operations. This deployment is regularly reinforced with the deployment of additional Mirage aircraft (3 Mirage F1CR from June 15 to August 28, 2006) and with the presence of CVN %u201CCharles de Gaulle%u201D in the Indian Ocean (3 long-term deployments since 2001). So they're using Mirage 2000Ds for combat, Mirage F1s for recon, and likely the naval contingent is limited to maritime patrols. There does exist a video of some Super Etendards flying a close air support mission, with one carrying a bomb and the other a targeting pod.

Combat proven!? That's a stretch. I doubt very much that the French contingent in Afghanistan has engaged in much combat. I know for a fact that the French Air Force component based at the Ganci Airbase in Manas, Kyrgyzstan was composed of Mirage 2000Ds as well as some other support, transport, and tanking capabilities. Although Rafale's may have been deployed earlier with the French naval contingent, as far as I know, they did not have the ability to use their recon pod or targeting pods at the time, thus in tests they were using Super Etendards to illuminate targets for the Rafales.

That is true many countries are interested by the Rafale but everything is blocked by politics relations from a part by american planes and from another by the european fighter (Eurofighter typhoon). Today the market for new military planes is smaller and smaller that's the reason. Each country defends his market part.
