USS Manila Bay P-47s

Republic Aviation P-47 Thunderbolts of 318th Fighter Group, US Army Air Force, being catapult launched from the USS Manila Bay (CVE 61) in June 1944. The 37 P-47s had been ferried from Pearl Harbor. During the Battle of the Philippine Sea they were launched and flew to their new base at Saipan in the Marianas Islands.
