yeah but they still cant takeoff carriers
off course!
The IS an F-16 variant that can take off from or land on an aircraft carrier --- the F-16N! About a dozen were built, and the U.S. Navy used them mostly as aggressors in training exercises. I don't know if any are still in service, however.
Nope mate :)
quote from the f16 site "History
In the mid-eighties, the USNavy was eagerly seeking a replacement for its agressor training aircraft. Both the F-5 and A-4 were in service at the time. The Navy found that these aircraft were not longer to their satisfaction in forfilling this task. These aircraft lacked the latest avionics developments and they were becomming obsolete very soon, with extensive maintenance being required. Also the lack of a high maneuverable and fast jet aircraft to performe this agressor training was felt very badly. A decision was taken to develop a customised version of the F-16 te fill this gap."
It has a hook which can be used on a normal runway during emrgency landing. Undercarrige is not suited for carrier ops. They would have to rebuild the airframe to support carrier landings.
can f16 take-off from aircraft carrier? i thought that f16 is not for navy.
Navy does have some F-16's they are Aggressors.

Not true. The F-16N is not suitable for carrier takeoff or landing. They were designed to replace the F-5 and A-4 as MiG simulators in ACM at Top Gun (now the strike fighter weapons school/NSAWC). You are correct in that the Navy used, and still uses the F-16N in the aggressor role. The F-16 would have to be effectively re-designed to be able to withstand the conditions of carrier operations, and I have never heard of any intended use off of a CVN.
yes,its the true storie, never see a f-16 take off from carrier or landing....its use to play an agressor role, the first variant of the F-16N is now on the amrac desert, but after a f-16 deal with some country,im not remember with one, they have a embarogo, and the dod of unitedstates take this falcon and modified this version to a new F-16N,they have a reinforce wing and some other stuff,im not shure but i think she do something in the engine to,....
