for your info french detachment in chad is a long history and they usually sent very good pilot their, the aicraft posted there are not state of the art ( juaguar until recently and now mirage ficr) but they do the job they is no air oposition ( lybia is no longer a threat) but they are doing a lot of air to ground straffind and dumb bombing. its much more quiet than it used to be in the 80' they saw a lot of action against lybian troops and french air defense forces even shot down a libyan blinder bomber in 85 86. ( with an hawk sam)
we lost around 10 fighter there in the past 20 years some of them due to enemy shilka of small arms fire the rest was due to attrition ( pilot error bird strike etc etc) tchad and djubouti are two very good external deployement fo french eir force pilot because there are no rule, ( its not allowed to fly this low in france anymore) there its no limit and no witness ;-)
