Not a 5th generation fighter but a 4th generation fighter. The chengdu j10 and the mitsubishi f2 are also 4th generation fighters.The su35 is a 4.5 generation fighter and the f22 is the only one 5th generation fighter in service.
The f22 is not yet in service and its a 4th gen fighter, the f22 has stealth but the gripen has technological advances and electronic warfare
also the f 14 f 15 f 16 and f/a 18 are all third generation fighters
What happened to F-14, F-15, F-16, F/A-18, MiG-29 family, Su-27/30 family along with many others?
The 'only in-service fourth gen fighter' in the description is perhaps not totally accurate, the Gripen manufacturer claim it to be the 'Only 4th generation MULTI-ROLE aircraft in operation' which is true. It's Fighter, Bomber, Recon, and EW now.
In my opinion, this is not true. The French navy has 1 sqn (12F) of Rafales M operational at this moment.
