Other differences are the CH46E has folding rotor blades, the addition of floataion devices, internally mounted engines.

Actually the '47 (Army) is bigger in both size and payload than the '46 (USN/USMC).

Both are very versatile a/c. The Army flies CH-47Ds (plain vanilla Chinooks) and MH-47Gs that are special operations platforms with air to air refueling capability. They can be used for CSAR, and in fact Boeing kinda-sorta won the new USAF CSAR contract (it was revoked when several other manufacturers complained). If they had maintained the contract, they were going to use a MH-47 variant.

Well the sieze of the chinook and the Ch-46 is the biggest. And i think that the chinook is only used as a transport helicopter and/or heavy gunship. While the seaknight can do all that search and rescue and rescue at sea operations.
