I was not impressed with the Air and Space museum how did you feel about it if you saw it
Me either, it was kind of boring even for me. The USAF museum is a lot better I think.
Ryan
Never been to it but i want to go bad

It was really good. The best one I've been to so far. I'm leaving tomorrow on vacation to Washington D.C. so I might not have anything up for 2-3 weeks.
Ryan

I just realized I posted this on my comments page......so Ill try putting it on yours...LOL
Do you think there are many good spots for shooting from the general admission in Dayton? Im gonna try to get near a fence somewhere.
Nice job on getting media for it.
I'm getting it for Janesville WI, Im hopping theres some way I can get a ride in something...like one of the Red Barons or something.
Yeah I did notice the Skip pic.......I was quite happy with that!
You shoot RAW right?..That was my first show shooting RAW. I need ALOT more memory if Im goin to shoot a big show using RAW (only 3 GB). What do you use to originally screen your pics to figure out which to work on?
Sorry bout all the questions...LOL.
David
Dayton's GA is pretty good. If you sit in the left GA section you'll be pretty close to show center. The only thing is that the showline is pretty far from the crowd. If it were up to me, I'd get there a little before the gates open. You've got a loooong walk through the statics to the GA area. Head to between the big white tents of the corporate chalets and the umbrellas of the pavillion seats. That's where the closest spot to show center is. The front row fills up almost instantly, so if you're later don't expect to be near the front.
Even though you're media, you pretty much need an inside hookup to get a ride. They're pretty much for TV, radio, or newspaper guys so that they can spread the word about the show. Even though I was 'media' at Dayton last year, no one even talked to me, much less mentioned a ride. Same with this year. Good luck though!
Yeah I shoot RAW. Up until this past weekend we never hard an issue with memory, we never used more that 6GB. This is our first year with a Sigma 50-500mm, which opens up so many more possible shots. We used up 11GB of memory each day! It was 3000 pictures total. I don't plan on doing that again! lol.
I use Photoshop CS2 to go through the RAWs, it's got a cool filstrip feature that lets you view up to 100 photos at once, scroll through and preview them any size you want, and mark them for deletion. You can also do all of the pre-editing if you're into the in-depth stuff. Then you can select the non-deletion ones and open them to edit like normal. It's pretty cool and a big time saver. What do you use so far?
Ryan
I just put the standard Canon software on my computer and for screening my pictures it works wonders.....before I was using CS3...and I didnt know about that feature you talked about so I was looking at the little previews on the bottom when you hit "open". Much better with the Canon software...I can view almost full size and flip through them real fast and mark which one I like.
Yeah, I'm not expecting anything as far as rides go, but I figure I gotta have a better chance being media than being a payed viewer (from none to almost none).
Can't wait for Dayton, really want to see the Smoke Squadron. Definitly gonna buy at least one if not two more, two GB cards.

ohhh well at least charge money because all the drunk bums(no lie) come and always sit by me there were 2 military demo teams and 5 aerobatic 1 sky diving and the blues it gets boring for me because the aerobatics essentially do the same things just in different order but i dont have to worry about it for another 2 years
All airshows and open houses at military bases have to be free to the public. They can charge extra for premium seating but they have to have free general admission. Oh well, don't worry about it. The show will go on regardless.
Ryan
true that

see, thats the problem with DM Airshow 2938423894 aerobatic planes and 3 jet demo teams i wish they would charge money to get in and maybe they could get more demo teams
Money has nothing to do with it, the demo teams are assigned by the military service to which they belong. The show can't just hire more of them. DM is actually probably the most military filled airshow I've ever been to. Two years ago I saw exactly three aerobatic acts.

For me it was worth it, for you it probably wouldn't be.
Ryan
Oh thats nice.
It's about a $900 lens, but it's professional grade.
Oh $900, is it worth 900?
I have a Sigma 50-500mm, a Sigma 70-300mm, and a Canon 18-55mm lens.
Ryan
Wow, i have a Nikkor 70-300mm,18-55, how much did you buy the sigma 50-500?
Yes, I have a Canon 30D which is a digital SLR.
