Rooivalk "African Sky"
This past festive season gave me some time to be a little creative so i used two images that i photographed and created this dramatic "painting". The Rooivalk helicopter(16Sqn) fired these rockets during a training operation near Bloemfontein and the sunset i photographed from a moving car near Johannesburg, South Africa.
C-185 "Photorecce"
C-185, stationed at 44Sqn, Air force Base Waterkloof, Pretoria, South Africa flying a tactical navigation and photo reconnaisance sorty. These old, little aeroplanes have served our air force for many years and you will not convince any of these 185-pilots that there is a better plane on the planet.

C-185 "Loskopdam Wallpaper"
C-185 based at Air Force Base Waterkloof, 44 squadron, Pretoria, South Africa. This photograph was taken a few miles east of Pretoria over Loskop Dam. The pilot was flying a tactical reconnaisance training sorty. These taildraggers are very unforgiving aircraft and require a lot of skill to operate tactically. If a pilot mastered this little earoplane then he CAN FLY.
"Handstand in the hole"
Oryx helicopter from 15 Squadron, Durban. I asked the pilot to hover on the other side of the hole in the mountain, so that I can get a frontal photograph of the helicopter. I instructed the pilot to dip the nose just enough so that I can see the tailboom section above the cockpit. The pilot lifted the tail and just carried on and produced this picture. Amazing!

Apache Longbow at sunset
The AH-64D Longbow is fitted with the Longbow millimetre wave fire control radar and the Longbow Hellfire missile.
The Longbow fire control radar incorporates an integrated radar frequency interferometer for passive location and identification of radar-emitting threats.
An advantage of millimetre wave is that it performs under poor-visibility conditions and is less sensitive to ground clutter.
The short wavelength allows a very narrow beam width, which is resistant to countermeasures.

I think this is a pic of the last two squadrons, the Black lions and the Tomcatters. God bless the F-14!
