Python 3 is a evry effective infrared missile, but what about the Piranha ?
The design look like the early version of Sidewinder AIM-9B/C !
Is it a local upgrade with brand new infrared sensor and computing system ?
This seens to be the AIM-9B but the Piranha is greater than this. The performance is better than the Python 3. There's a new version in develop, the MAA-1B Piranha, wich will repace the first version. The new Piranha will be between the Python 4 and R-73 missiles. It will be the main short range air-to-air missile of the Brazilian Air Force up to 2013~2014, when will arrive the first batch of the A-Darter air-to-air missile, a friendship production with South African Air Force. The A-Darter can do more G's than the AIM-9X!
