It's a dump and burn. It doesn't actually have a use in combat. Technically it is in afterburner, but the afterburner isn't the flame... It is in afterburner however to light the flame. Thats where the F111 dumps its fuel.

it's a cloud pleaser. Anyplane in A/B is a ripe target for a heat seaking missile anyrate.

I believe that if the flame is very short, is a great risk for the pilot and the airplane, since the missile could cause serious damages. But the idea not this nothing badly, was very ingenious your thought th007, we would have to prove.
