Well this is like a snapshot of US airpower at the end of Vietnam. You got your precursor to the F-15E Strike Eagle in the F-4E Phantom. You got your F-16 type prototype light weight fighter in the F-5E Tiger 2. Finally you got your fleet defender F-14A out of which our air dominance fighter F-22 has grown. We can handle our old planes, it's the MiG-29s we have to look out for, I have chills that if the Navy ends up taking the vanguard against Iran the F/A-18's, supers and all, are going to see some heavy attrition from the MiG-29's, especially if they are flown by merc Russian pilots.

The F-5E uses a Strike Fighter is rare. I think that the F-5E ir more capable platform like a Doghfighter with limited BVR.
I think that the F-4 Phamtom II has more capable in Strike fighter.
