The thrilling dogfight over the skies of Lahore was an apt finale to PAFs splendid performance in the battle for air superiority. The 2-1 tally in PAFs favour was gratifying indeed; however, the whole formation had to pay for Maliks downing as none of the scoring pilots was awarded a gallantry medal.

The Indian Hunter attacked Lahore,Pakistan at early dawn PAF F-86s scrambled from Sargdoha airbase(150-200 km from Lahore).Flt lt Sharbat ali CHangazi(later rose to air vice marshal) shotdown Indian Hunter over Lahore,and other hunters were buggen out.
During this encounter the lively Lahorites were literally clapping after watching enemy airplane in the fire,so this encounter became famous as "Mission bokkata".
