Persian Gulf (June 13, 2006) - An F/A-18C Hornet assigned to the Sidewinders of Strike Fighter Squadron Eight Six (VFA-86), launches from the flight deck of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65). Enterprise and embarked Carrier Air Wing One (CVW-1) are currently deployed as part of a routine rotation of U.S. maritime forces in support of global war on terrorism as well as conducting Maritime Security Operations (MSO) in the region.
