Hawker Sea Fury

On display at the Australian War Memorial, the Hawker Sea Fury was one of the finest piston engined aircraft ever built. First flow in 1944, it wasn't until late 1947 that the Sea Fury began to replace the Fleet Air Arm Spitfires. Mainly operated by the Royal Navy carrier fleet, it was one of the few British aircraft to see combat in the Korean War, where it's capabilites were clearly demonstarted in the ground-attack role. Korea was the first jet-vs-jet war, however the Sea Fury is known to have destroyed more Communist aircraft than any other non-us type.
