X-35 Re-Fuel

A F-35 Lighting re-fueling. A nice picture.
Anyone know what the colors on the boom are for?

It's actually for the boom operator, not the pilot. The pilot is looking at the directional light system operated by the boom operator....and yes, its an X-35...says so right on the tail.

It just means that the tanker operator is gay. Not that it's a bad thing.....

In all seriousness the rainbow colours are typically the symbol for homosexuality. Check out the gay pride parades...That's all you see.....

But Burner has the real reason...."It tells the pilot how far away from the boom he is and if he should pull in or out. " "Burner123"
